My primary goal is to be available to the SBA and the SBDC’s entrepreneurs who need specialized business plan writing, grant development or request for proposal response services. The Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs) is not a competitor, but a central point of contact for finding people who do not want to, or do not have the English language skill to write a business plan. This failure rate could directly affect the federal statutory government-wide’s small businesses impact goal of getting their fair share of work with the federal government.
While attention to detail is important, the length of time needed to write a business plan vary. Some people begin to do their research upfront and become disillusioned and stop, while others proclaim to have completed their plan very quickly resulting in a one-page very simple, plainly written plan of their ideas for a business. Others who cannot express basic business principles quit after months of tedious boredom because they have nothing else to say. For a select few, the amount of actual time writing seems as if it takes a lot longer. Overall, life gets in the way of their entrepreneurial ventures as they lament of families and commitments and full-time employment as they prepare to launch their business. Like the game of Monopoly; they do not launch their business, do not go past GO, supported, named, and counted.
Business Writing
For Years, I Have Heard Valued Customers Say:
- I used straight-forward tools, but
- I used a template, but
- I wrote it, but I bought a plan online, but
- I went to a 6-week class, seminar, but
- I attended an online seminar, but
- I used fillable worksheets, but
- I went to many free and low-cost workshops to complete my plan, but
- I HAVE NOT COMPLETED MY BUSINESS PLAN,
- I HAVE NO REAL BUSINESS FINANCIALS THAT STAND FOR MY BUSINESS,
- THE WORDS DO NOT REFLECT ME, MY VISION, OR MY BUSINESS
- WHAT I WROTE WAS NOT ENOUGH FOR THE BANK AND THEY SENT IT BACK TO ME
